Build a Stronger, More Vibrant Community with the Society Hill Fund
Since 1971, the nonprofit Society Hill Fund has been a driving force for positive change in our vibrant neighborhood. We believe in the power of community and are dedicated to supporting projects that enhance the lives of all residents and make Society Hill a desirable place to live, work, and play.
Programs We’ve Helped Manage
Through partnerships with passionate organizers and generous donors, the Society Hill Fund has made a significant impact on our community. We are proud to have supported a diverse range of initiatives, each addressing specific needs and enhancing the lives of Society Hill residents:
1
Delancey Square Town Watch
The Delancey Square Town Watch (DSTW) is the only certified town watch within Society Hill and works closely with law enforcement, city officials, outreach, local and civic organizations to encourage and educate residents on how to play a more active role in the public safety of our community. We provide fundraising infrastructure for DSTW to enable tax-deductible donations.
2
Franklin Lights
We managed funds for the purchase, installation, and maintenance of the historic Franklin Lights that illuminate the streets of Society Hill to improve safety and enhance the historical character of the neighborhood.
3
McCall School Cyber-Library
McCall School serves over 600 neighborhood children, and at one time had no functioning library. We worked with the McCall Home & School Association to create a state-of-the art cyber library with technology, books, reference materials, and furnishings.
4
Washington Square Plantings and Beautification
We supported the effort to beautify Washington Square with plantings, landscaping, cleanup, and year-round upkeep.
5
Washington Square Fountain Sculpture
Washington Square received a donation to purchase the beautiful bronze sculpture in the center of the park’s fountain. The Society Hill Fund managed the transaction.
6
Penn’s Village Aging-in-Place Program
Penn’s Village is a community-based membership organization which assists older adults to live independently in their own homes with varying services and programs that increase social engagement. It was launched in Society Hill and we provided the initial fundraising infrastructure.
7
Anti-Casino Advocacy and Litigation
When a casino was proposed at a site near Society Hill, we provided fundraising support to the group that conducted research, advocacy, and legal action to prevent it.
These are just a few examples of how we have supported our thriving and vibrant community. By partnering with us, you can be part of making a difference in the lives of our neighbors.
